Hey! That’s My Hummus!

We’re the only hummus-themed podcast which is not a cooking show.

[88] Stuff and Things and Sex and Objectification

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

This week’s show was a mix of a few random stories that came up in the news. You might find it interesting to know that they all had a common thread even if unintended: sex and objectification.

But that wasn’t what we found interesting.

We found it fascinating, in fact, that this show was specifically not about music. Yet in the first segment we happen to mention the names of numerous bands in context — including Bon Jovi, the Cult, Another Bad Creation, Kriss Kross, Tone Lōc, Jewish Sensation the Miami Boys Choir, and Muslim superstars N2K.

We also talk a bit about dress codes, the evolution of sexual harassment awareness, and dumb things politicians say when they think they’re helping but they’re really not.

[87] Throwing Candy: The Bar Mitzvah Episode

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

We have a special guest in studio this week — a 13 year-old named Avi who also happens to be closely related to one of our hosts!

And since he just turned 13 a matter of months ago, as a Jewish kid coming of age he just became a bar mitzvah this past January. Learn a bit about his journey, his preparation, the type of candy he prefers people pelt at him, and how his bar mitzvah party was truly on fire!

Any questions about having a bar/bat mitzvah? Any traditions of your own you’d like to share? Let us know! Tell us what you think on Facebook or Twitter.
